Our Story,
Hilary, Shelly, Amy and Melissa have known each other for over 12 years, as dog lovers and friends. Having all previously worked at Petco together grooming for many years, Hilary had been one of Shelly's regular customers. Commonly sharing the love for dogs the idea came about to put their dog loving forces and great grooming skills to work! Shelly and Amy trained Hilary and soon after the
opportunity arose to all work together and open up a shop! Hence, Because We Care Dog and Cat Grooming opened in March 2012. Shelly has been grooming in the Carmel Mountain Ranch/ Rancho Penasquitos area for 15 years and has vast experience in grooming all breeds. Amy who also worked with Shelly at Petco, has her own unique creativity when it comes to her grooming skills. Melissa is a phenomenal cat groomer who also grooms dogs. Audrey, who has over 25 years of grooming experience, also joined the team in 2012. Audrey specializes in small dogs, and is our resident "Yorkie" expert. Hilary became a groomer and left behind the ridged life of office work, and hasn't looked back since, she continues to broaden her skills and techniques by going to dog grooming shows and keeping herself up to date on the latest dog grooming techniques.
We use state of the art equipment and our shop is fully air conditioned for your dogs comfort and health. A large stainless steel tub is in our bathing room in the back of the house, with steps/ramp for larger or uncomfortable dog to be able to walk into the tub with ease. Both front and back of the house features full visibility kennels, so your pets can see us and we can see them at all times. Each kennel is lined with water resistant foam matting for comfort and to keep your dogs temporary environment sanitary. If your pet has an accident it easily cleaned and your pet remains in a clean kennel. Each kennel contains its own tray and can easily be removed and cleaned without disturbing your pup. Our all natural cool air forced drying system allows us to attach a dryer to each kennel and with the correct room temperature air dry your dog with no heat. Our shampoo and products are all natural, tear free, salt and sulfate free. If your dog has sensitive skin, an allergy or dry skin, please notify us and we will provide the appropriate shampoos.
